Matter of Perspective
This whole intermarriage thing comes with it some culture shock, no matter how educated people are these days. Take for example bread and butter versus rice and gravy. Many a time over a bread dinner, I laughingly pointed out how my grandma would roll in her grave if she knew I was now feeding my family 'bread' for dinner. In my family growing up, bread is a snack. When our elder girl was sent for half a year to Singapore back in 2019, my aunt called me up one day in exasperation exclaiming "What do I do? She is eating only bread, bread, bread!!" Meantime, many years before that in Germany, this very same girl at age 4 had given her Oma a heart attack when she squeaked "Ich will Reis essen mit......eggs!" Oma gasped saying "I have real food for you to eat!" (all that in German, by the way) before proceeding to fix our Little Miss some bread and cheese, of course! So there you go. Almost everything is a matter of perspective and if you think of things that way, no one is ever right or wrong.
