A Cup, A Mug, A Story
We have accumulated so many cups and mugs through the years, the number is ridiculous. Mind you, we have lugged them all over the world because, for those who don't already know, we have lived in a few countries before we migrated to New Zealand. For that matter, even after that we had a stint abroad and came back. Believe it or not, we had previous lives as corporate animals and that brought us to various places.Through all of that, our cups and mugs moved back and forth with us; some survived the journeys, some didn't.
Fascination for cups is not ours to suffer alone, of course. There is just something about sipping that warm Teh Tarik on a winter evening from that favourite cup or enjoying that cold Waldmeister on a hot summer day out of that favourite glass. Key word 'favourite' - I have too many, it's a farce! But really, who can blame me. Would you leave behind a huge one screaming "Mrs Universe" gifted by your hubby, that first cup you got bearing the flag of your new country, Disney plastic cups over which your then-babies-now-young-ladies splattered their pink Bandung drink as they giggled in their matching Disney tents? All those years ago.
I'm thinking that if we ever have an actual Cafe, how cool would it be to serve using all these various cups with colourful stories behind them. Reduce and reuse while you ponder on a bit of history. What do you think?
